Holding the Room
There is plenty of support for parents of babies. Then your child turns five, walks into a school building, and the support quietly ends, right at the start of the longest stretch of parenting there is: thirteen years, mostly walked alone. So this page is about you. You cannot give what you have not received; a depleted parent cannot lend calm they do not have. Caring for your own inner life is not self-indulgence. It is the load-bearing wall of the whole house. Reclaim one hour this week that is only yours: reading, making, one honest conversation with another adult. And if your child is already eight, or twelve, or sixteen, you did not miss the beginning. The window is wherever the table meets you.

Another adult who will hold the hour with you: a friend, an elder, a parent group.
